Biography

Bo Yu is an associate professor at the Department of Cyber Security Engineering at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Her research spans a wide range of areas in cybersecurity, encompassing numerous industries, including transportation, healthcare, government, manufacturing, and defense. Her recent research focuses on utilizing wireless 5G technologies to establish a testbed for 5G research and experimentation and leveraging AI on diverse types of data to enhance system security and performance. Specifically, her research encompasses the provisioning of autonomous vehicle safety using 5G-edge computing, safety in medical procedures, enforcement of medical consent, and sensitive data privacy using CareFlow-enforced Management systems, as well as Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) security assurance using penetration testing to detect and analyze hardware, software, and network vulnerabilities. She was also a visiting researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) from 2014 to 2017. She received a PhD in Information Technology in 2014 from George Mason.
