    As director of the first-of-its-kind BS in cyber-security engineering program at Mason, Peggy Brouse is passionate about building a new breed of cyber-security professional. As the nature of cyber threats has grown, the demand for timely response and effective action has built the groundwork for a discipline of anticipatory action and security design.

    Paulo Costa has applied his significant experience as a fighter pilot to a career specializing in the field of electronic warfare and flight safety, which in conjunction with his research on probabilistic reasoning has led to applications in cyber and transportation security, heterogeneous data fusion, and decision support systems in healthcare, defense, and other areas. These topics are at the core of his classroom activities at both graduate and undergraduate level, as well as his research path.

    Mohamed Gebril is an assistant professor in the Cybersecurity Engineering Department. He joined Mason after working as primary patent examiner for the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Mingkui Wei

    Assistant Professor, Cybersecurity Engineering, Volgenau


    Mingkui Wei is an assistant professor in the Cybersecurity Engineering Department. His research interests focus on web application and network security, digital forensics, and forensic investigation. He is a member of the IEEE and ACM, and an associate member of the American Academy of Forensics Science. His research works have been published in a number of world-renowned venues including IEEE INFOCOM and Usenix Security.

    In addition to being a professor of computer science at George Mason University’s Volgenau School of Engineering, Duminda Wijesekera is a visiting research scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. He leads the Laboratory of Radio and RADAR Engineering (RARE), a collaboration between academia, industry and government agencies and is a co-director of the Center for Assured Research (CARE) at Mason. His current research addresses three main areas. The first is the security and safety of cyber-physical systems.
